Banff Area -- Mt. Louis Attempt

June, 2003

Our first objective in the Rockies was the Gmoser route on Mt. Louis. The guidebook has this to say about Mt. Louis: "This is a peak you have to climb. And what a splendid summit to attain: a monolithic peak with steep faces on all sides, reminiscent of the peaks in the Dolomites. [...] Louis is a favorite peak amongst climbers. The summit register reads like a who's who of North American climbers."
